Ding Dong

This photo was taken inside the Hong Kong MTR (subway) station back in November 2004. Ding Dong is nickname for Doraemon in Hong Kong. Notice the bell tied on its neck? It was said that this bell led the translator decided to use the name "Ding Dong" instead of literal translation of Doraemon.

The Doraemon Channel (www.dora-world.com) recently added a new section DNN Dora News Network which delivers latest news of Doraemon campaigns and merchandies in various parts of the world.

The Doraemon Channel also has created its Chinese version website based in Taiwan:

Suwon Hwaseong

I also visited Suwon Hwaseong during my trip to Seoul in 2004. Suwon Hwaseong was built in 1790s when the then Korean King intended to relocate his court to Suwon. The fortress and wall, though once damaged during the Korean War in 1950s, was restored in 1970s. Suwon Hwaseong was well-designed to protect the old city of Suwon.

Changdeokgun Palace

I've read from the newspaper that some scenes of "Daejanggum" were shotted inside the Ghangdeokgun Palace. I wonder if they've done any filming by the pond?

Korean cuisine - Bibimbab

The Korean TV Drama "Daejanggum" has gained huge popularity not only in Korea but also in Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong. The story was staged in 15th Century Korean Palace, with lots of descriptions of the life of palace maids, Korean cuisine, and herbal medicine.

Watching "Daejanggum" reminds me a lot of my trip to Seoul in 2004.

Bibimbab - perhaps one of the most well known Korean Cuisine
The dining place is called Gogung; and it has an English website, with lots of broken link though. (http://gogung.co.kr/eng/index.htm)

My Korean friends also treated me for dinner at another Korean Restaurant "Hanilkwan". All the dishes they ordered: grilled meat; soup noodles; side dishes, were so delicious!
